Introducing... the PADI Skill Circuit.
During the PADI Divemaster and Instructor courses, candidates learn to demonstrate many scuba skills. 20 of them are regrouped in Divemaster Skills Evaluation Workshop, also known as the Skill Circuit.
For the next 2 months, we are going to release a skill demonstration video on our YouTube Channel, every other day. These demonstrations are performed by Platinum Course Directors Natalie Hunt and Guillaume Fargues.
And we begin with... the C.E.S.A.!
The Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent (C.E.S.A.) is always recognized as one of the most important skills that is taught in the PADI system of education. You use it to ascend safely if you are out of air, shallower than 10 meters (30 feet) and cannot get help.
It is also a skill that has many critical attributes and requires a detailed demonstration. When practiced in confined water, this ascent is simulated horizontally.
Most candidates will be asked to demonstrate this in confined water, during the PADI Instructor Examination.
