IDC OW 1The Master Instructor denotes those scuba diving instructors who have outstanding experience and skills beyond most others.
Become a Master Instructor is also the last step before applying for PADI Course Director.

Who can take join our PADI Master Instructor Program

To become a Master Instructor, you will need to :

  1. Be a PADI IDC Staff Instructor.
  2. Be a PADI Instructor for two years.
  3. Be an Emergency First Response Instructor.
  4. Have participated in three PADI Seminars.
  5. Have issued 150 PADI certifications:
    1. At least 50 continuing education certifications (Adventure Diver or higher level) that include: 15 Specialty Divers, five Rescue Divers, five Divemasters and five Assistant Instructors. Other ways to meet the 5 Assistant Instructor certification requirement:
      1. Staff two entire IDCs.
      2. Staff one entire IDC and certify three additional Assistant Instructors.
    2. No more than 75 from Discover Scuba Diving credits.
    3. No more than 25 from specialty courses without dives (Equipment Specialist, Project AWARE, etc).
    4. No more than 10 from PADI Seal Team or Master Seal Team registrations.
    5. No more than 50 from IDC staffing credits.
  6. Have issued 10 Emergency First Response course completion cards.
  7. Used the complete PADI System of diver education including all appropriate PADI training materials when conducting PADI programs. Professional Membership
  8. Have issued PADI as the primary certification, and conducted PADI certification courses and experience programs using methods consistent with PADI Standards and philosophy as outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual and PADI’s Guide to Teaching.
  9. Have no verified Quality Assurance violations within the past six months and no open quality assurance inquiries.
  10. Demonstrated support of the PADI organization in its efforts to establish programs in aquatic education and conservation.

  • Meeting with the local PADI Regional Manager to discuss further plans
  • Participating in and running Project AWARE related activities
